Willie Nelson might be my all-time favorite artist.
He’s strange. He writes songs about a woman getting killed for touching a man’s horse, talking to the walls, and swimming down a river of whiskey. Above all else, he was a Nashville outcast who had to scratch and claw to carve out his own musical lane.
This is how Frankly feels to me. I’ve seen so many “silver bullet salesmen” offering AI-generated fixes to trick businesses into buying a bill of goods. I’m fed those ads so often, I can hardly get on social media for more than a few minutes at a time. I’m sure some of you reading this feel the same.
I’m not completely “anti-AI” per se, but I am firmly anti-fake. If it came out that Willie started using artificial intelligence to write his songs, I’d be crushed. The day you let a robot tell your story for you is the day you cease to be a storyteller. Luckily, I’m certain that day will never come.
The greatest Willie Nelson lyric comes from the song Shotgun Willie. “You can’t make a record if you ain’t got nothing to say.” I feel the power of this simple line in my bones. No story. No power. No point. The only thing worse than having nothing to say is having something sacred to say and not knowing how to say it.
I know there are some damn great businesses in town in that boat. If you are one of them, Frankly was made for you. Give me a call. Seriously. (859) 628-0992.
Thanks for giving this a read. - Cody Pelle, Founder of Frankly
